Parat Studio for Physiotherapy and Personel Training

The client wished for a contemporary physiotherapy and personal training studio at a prominent crossroads in Kleinbasel. The conversion consists of three new treatment rooms, a group training area and new changing rooms. The design takes up the idea of the hall of mirrors, which, combined with elements typical of fitness studios, creates an interesting interplay of reflections and visual references. With minimal intervention, a maximum effect of space, light and materiality is created. Inside the treatment rooms, the existing materialization is taken up and complemented by a contemporary choice of materials. The result is a universal architecture that creates a small Parat universe of its own.

A simple series of furniture was also developed for PARAT, initially a reception desk and large coffee table. The black granite is sourced from the clients family tradition of stone masons and is local to thier hometown. A simple steel frame cladded in polished corrugated aluminium make for a economic representative elements. Plagiarized plywood benches and stools in the waiting and changing rooms are utalitarian with simple pieces protecting the wall from day-to-day wear and tear and simple yellow colour where.
